The short version
- Almost everything you enter into SlipFix stays on your own device. The habit you choose, your spending and time estimates, your goals, your journal entries, your streak history, and your "Why Video" are stored locally on your phone and are not uploaded to us or anyone else.
- We do not require an account. No login, no password, no email sign-up; we do not collect your name or email address inside the app.
- We use one third-party analytics tool (PostHog) to understand how the app is used. This data is anonymous and behavioral; it is not linked to your real-world identity.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. If you subscribe, Apple processes payment. We never see or store your card details.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
1Who we are
SlipFix ("SlipFix," "the app," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps you reduce or remove a bad habit. This privacy policy explains what information the app handles, how it is handled, and the choices you have.
SlipFix is currently operated by Dylan Bowman, an individual developer based in Arizona, United States. We expect to transfer operation of SlipFix to Silicon Planet Technologies LLC (Arizona) in the near future; when that happens, this policy will be updated to name that entity, and it will continue to apply to your information on the same terms.
Questions about this policy or your information: dylan@slipfixapp.com
2Information stored only on your device
SlipFix is designed so that the personal and sensitive information you provide stays on your device. This includes:
- The bad habit you select or enter during setup (for example: alcohol, nicotine, weed, gambling, or a custom habit you type in).
- Your answers to onboarding questions — such as how much you spend, how many hours the habit takes, your triggers, who you're doing this for, and your goals.
- Your recorded "Why Video" — a video you record of yourself, saved to your device's local storage and never uploaded to us or any server. Only you can access it, on your device.
- Your journal entries and reflections.
- Your progress data — clean streaks, best streak, total days, urges resisted, slips, and any goals you create and check off.
This information is stored on your device using its standard local storage and file system. We cannot see it, we do not receive a copy of it, and we do not back it up. Because it lives only on your device: deleting the app deletes this information, and it does not transfer to a new phone unless you use a device backup that you control (such as an Apple iCloud or Finder backup, not one managed by us).
You can clear this information at any time using the data-reset option in the app's Settings, or by deleting the app.
3Information collected through analytics
To understand how people use SlipFix so we can improve it, we use PostHog, a third-party product-analytics service. PostHog collects a limited amount of usage and technical data and sends it to PostHog's servers in the United States.
What analytics data is collected:
- Usage events — anonymous records of in-app actions, such as opening the app, viewing an onboarding screen, recording a Why Video, logging a slip, or resisting an urge. These describe what happened in the app, not who you are.
- A random device identifier — when you first use the app, an anonymous, randomly generated ID is created and stored on your device so that repeat use from the same installation can be grouped together for analytics. This identifier is not your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID, and we do not use it to determine your real-world identity.
- Basic technical information — such as device type, operating system version, and app version.
What analytics data is NOT collected: we do not send the contents of your journal entries, your Why Video, your specific spending or time figures, or the free-text you enter to PostHog or to us. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or payment details through analytics.
PostHog acts as our data processor and does not sell this data. You can read PostHog's own privacy practices at posthog.com/privacy.
4Subscriptions and payments
SlipFix offers optional paid subscriptions. Paid features are presented through a paywall managed with the help of Superwall, a third-party service that displays subscription options and reports whether a subscription is active.
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store using Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit):
- Your payment card and billing details are handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We never see or store your card number.
- We (and Superwall) receive limited, anonymous information about subscription events — for example, that a trial started or a subscription is active — so the app can unlock paid features. We do not link this to your real-world identity.
To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID subscription settings on your device (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
5Device permissions we request
- Camera and Microphone — used solely so you can record your "Why Video" inside the app. The recording is saved to your device and is not uploaded. If you decline these permissions, you simply won't be able to record a Why Video.
- Notifications (if you enable them) — used for in-app features such as a craving timer that alerts you when your time is up. Notifications are optional and can be turned off in your device settings.
We do not request access to your contacts, photo library (beyond saving or reading your own Why Video where applicable), precise location, or health data.
6How we use information
- Operate the app and its core features (streaks, impact totals, Why Video, journal, goals).
- Understand overall, anonymous usage patterns so we can fix problems and improve the app.
- Provide and manage optional subscriptions.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
7Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited situations:
- With service providers who help us run the app — specifically PostHog (analytics) and Superwall (subscription presentation) — and only the limited, anonymous data described above.
- With Apple, which processes subscription payments through the App Store.
- If required by law — to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect our rights, safety, or the safety of others.
- In a business transfer — including the planned transfer to Silicon Planet Technologies LLC — information may be transferred as part of that change, subject to this policy.
We do not share your personal data with third-party AI services.
8Data retention
Because most of your information never leaves your device, you control its retention — it exists until you clear it in the app or delete the app. Anonymous analytics data held by PostHog is retained according to PostHog's standard practices and our account configuration, and is not tied to your identity.
9Your choices and rights
- On-device data: you can view, add to, or erase your on-device information at any time using the in-app reset option or by deleting the app.
- No account to delete: SlipFix does not create user accounts, so there is no online account or server-side profile to delete. Removing your information is done entirely on your device, as described above.
- Analytics: analytics data is anonymous and behavioral. For any request regarding it, contact dylan@slipfixapp.com and we will make reasonable efforts to assist.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel anytime through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — for example, rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. To exercise any such right, contact dylan@slipfixapp.com. Because we hold very little personal data (and store most of it only on your own device), some requests may be things you can fulfill directly on your device.
10Children's privacy
SlipFix is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact dylan@slipfixapp.com and we will take appropriate steps.
11Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information. Because most of your information is stored only on your device, its security also depends on the security of your device (for example, your device passcode and your Apple account). Data transmitted to our analytics provider is sent over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12International users
SlipFix is operated from the United States, and our analytics provider stores data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, any anonymous analytics data will be processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time — for example, when we change features, add or remove a service provider, or transfer operation of the app to Silicon Planet Technologies LLC. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected here at slipfixapp.com/privacy.
